Final Reflection

In making this web series we have learnt unlike Tv series. We have to pick a target audience and have to be able to attract that audience or the show will fail. The only way to get people attention of the web series is through adverts and links through sites. If you don't make sure this adverts or link are not on the right sight to get the attention of your target audience then it is very hard to get views if the people who see it do come under the target audience and don't like it because its not there thing.

Our show is distributed on Vemio and Youtube but we have link to them through facebook and Twitter. this allows people to view the show when ever the wish all they do if the come our facebook or twitter page is just to follow the link to the videos or watch them there on the facebook page. This is different from shows like Red vs Blue which they have there own website that a lot of people view it on or go on there official youtube site which link to it are everywhere as soon as you type the show in a search engine like google or Yahoo. With our audience we had a challenge of finding an easy and effective way of getting to out target audience. We used Social Networking sites to post information out as our target age group majority of them use some kind of Social Networking site and Facebook we feel is one of the most popular sites and we can paternally get a lot of fans from this site.

After screening the 1st episode we got many hits not as much as others shows but we had some kind of small following. we got the odd comment most of them people enjoyed them but some people did have some concerns and constructive criticism. Like less swearing or just asking for more of a storyline. these comments reflected in the second episode. Unlike TV producers don't always hear all the criticism like web show do as most web show have forums under the show for people to talk about what they liked and disliked. this in a web show shows what people want and this mean getting more of a fan base if more people like one thing and others don't like another things can change so more people are happy with it.

In conclusion audiences in showing creative work is the core of what makes things good because if you have no audience can people say it is good or original if no one can see it. As well people have freedom of speech and they can either say they like your product or they can just as easily give harsh criticism it if they don’t like it and everyone can see there comment and that one comment can effect what people think before watching it if they see people say bad thing about the person about to watch it might think twice if other people say it bad as well as if people say its good a person might get the feeling its really good and be disappointed in the end

thought of the Focus Group

the focus group thought the series was good and that it was quite funny. but they still had a lot of negative but constructive criticism. They felt that Episode 2 was the best out of the three as it had a storyline and all the characters were distinguished. they felt that episode 1 was to long and episode 3 was to short. the enjoyed the acting but felt some people could of done more in the episode so you got a better understanding of the characters.

This was all good and criticism and alot of it was criticism was had noticed our self but getting it from a non byist point of view has shown what we had done good and what we had not done not so good even if we thought otherwise

Focus Group Write up

This is a write up of what the focus group said to our questions

-what are you initial thoughts and feelings of the webseries?

it was comedy. and it was one of those things that you could watch again because its not bad bad, but its kind of bad good. like it knows its bad but it makes it good. like with the editing and stuff.

they developed, the characters, as it went on. i thought the 2nd episode was better than the 1st. and the 3rd one. there was a lot more comedy, and action to it.

i think the girl should have been in it more because she was just there and she didn't really do anything.

i think the first one focused more on development of the characters. just introducing them seperately and then the 2nd one had a story base. then the third one is just kind of random. it was just trippy and getting high for no apparant reason. until the end.

- what do you think of the characters and their interactions?

josh's character, it might have been the shot type, but it just felt like he had been pasted in there.

- the idea was that the characters in each episode didn't really notice he was there because he was kind of in the back of the room.

i really liked keiths character. but the characters, i didn't really like the girls character but thats because she didn't really do much. but my favourite characters keith. and i liked sonny, and pier. there probably joint 2nd.

you had a range of characters, and they weren't the same or anything which was good.

and they were really different which was good.

- do you prefer the first second or third episode and why is that?

the second one because it didn't have all the hassle of the first one. the third one was just abit confusing.

- do you think it worked though

i think the effect was to confuse the audience which worked but it was just abit weird. and random. in terms of storyline

- so did you prefer the 2nd one?

i prefered the 2nd one but i got what was happening in the 3rd one.

i prefered the 2nd one. i think the thrid one was too short

- was the episode structure for the 2nd and third episodes better than the 1st?

it flowed better than the first one

- what do you think of the fan page on facebook?

i havent seen a lot of it so far but from what i have seen i think it's good. i like the idea of posting things from the characters perspectives.

- gives you more of an insight into the characters

i like the fan page, its quite simple but effective. it does keep it interesting, like you said about the characters posting things. just keeps the background story going for the webseries.

- the target audience was people our age. 16-21. do you think facebook is a good place for a fan page?

yea definatly.

- do you all have facebook?

yes

- what do you think could be improved for the next episode if we made one?

development of the second.

i think you should cut out the swearing because it just like a beep a minute. i know it was just in the first one but it was just like beep after beep.

i'd quite like the same setting as the second one. different storyline, different character.

maybe have 1 or 2 main characters and then rotate the other characters around. so you get to see the old characters, like the audience favourites, and then you get to see their new reactions with the new characters.

- what are the good and bad points of the episodes? lets start with the first one

it was too long, and too much swearing. good points was that it managed to establish a good base for the episode to start on. and it wasn't too tiresome that you couldn't watch it again.

i think the first one introduced the characters well. too much swearing though, it was just beep beep beep.

i think you focus the humour too much on keith going crazy at the beginning. apart from the frijj bit which was really funny. good word play. there the two funny bits, you need to stretch the comedy out.

- what about the second one?

i really liked the second one. it was funny, it had a good story

i liked it too, and through out all 3 of the episodes the characters managed to stay the same which was good. sometimes in television series the characters change. their nice one time and then they're really horrible but your characters didn't change.

only bad point was when you looked at the camera and when the teachers at the door. but everytime i see that it makes me laugh.

- what about the third one then?

it was too short, i got the idea you were trying to create an element of confusion but it kind of gave it away a bit with the title so maybe something a little bit more criptic could have worked better.

i didn't like the teachers acting. she was smiling too much about the fact that theres been a gas leak.

- who is your favourite character?

i'd have to say sonny, your character. it just made me laugh the way he kept hitting people. it was just one of those things i found hilarious.

little things please little minds

i just really liked your reactions.

i liked keith.

i liked the one who kept trying to escape. pier.

- did you think the acting was good?

i think the acting was good for all the characters

what did you think of vince as a character

it felt as if he was just stuck on there to fill screen time because he kind of just sat there and said something everynow and then

i think hes one of those characters that doesnt really do or say much but hes a part of it. and make the whole thing whole.

- what makes the webseries watchable?

humour, slapstick humour. nonsense. silly.

the comedic stuff. and the way it was random, but good random.

it was just really funny.

29th progress report

today we successfully edited and uploaded Episode 2 and we able to make the teaser trailers for Episode 3

this has a been a good week I felt overall as we lerned from our mistakes on Episode 1 and was able to be more organised and got the task done with time to spare.

28th Jan the Second Episode shoot

today we filming the second episode. I had a lot of work to do today as I was the Camera operator sound(boom mic) operator and editor. so I had to shoot the episode then take it to the Mac and Edit a rough copy by the end of the day. but not everything went as smoothly as possible we had to get permission to use a room but many of the room were not free or not free for very long. This wasted valuable time but we final found a room we could use and started to shoot. the shoot its self went very well even though I was doing a lot of things at once I got in to a routen on how to set everything up and be able to do more then one thing at the same time with no complications.
After would I up loaded the footage and racing to meet the days deadline I was able to edit a rough copy of Episode 2 in an hour.

26th Jan

today we made an action plan for the following week and what we needed to make sure we did to make sure we got the second episode up on time.
In my action plan I wrote that we needed to make sure we got in reherseals prier to the shoot and when come to the shoot be able to get the footage on to a laptop and start editing as soon as possible to meet the deadline of Friday.
